Catherine is in charge of communications at Malcolm Reading Consultants. She is responsible for the creative direction of our web design team, and drafting strategic content and media releases. Though always on the look-out for the perfect quote, she is keenly aware that in an increasingly visual culture, an image can be more effective than the most eloquent copy.
Experienced across a range of industries, she initially worked in the City for a Lloyd’s underwriting agency and an American investment bank. Subsequently, she trained as a journalist at Haymarket Publishing Ltd and later wrote features for the Daily Telegraph, the Independent, World Architecture and the Times Educational Supplement.
As the poet, Catherine Ormell, she has won a number of prizes. Her poem Campaign Desk was shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best Poem and is in The Forward Book of Poetry 2009, And then you made me feel... is in The Arvon International Poetry Competition 2010 Anthology and Delicacy is in The Best British Poetry 2011 (Salt). She won second prize in Magma’s Editor’s Prize competition 2014 with her poem Radish Soup and third prize in the Troubadour International Poetry Prize 2015 with Icing the Heart. Her work has been published in many national magazines including The Spectator.
