Why run a competition?

A competition is the best way to get access to exceptional design skills.

It offers a significant advantage for the client because it gives them the opportunity to compare a number of creative approaches to the project.

It is an excellent way of getting architects to perform at their very best to secure the commission.

Most of the competitions we run are two-stage which means that there is a general call for interest and then a shortlist is drawn up.

The shortlisted teams are invited to submit ideas or concepts, though not usually finished designs. The short listing stage can be a great help to the client because it reveals different priorities, different approaches and indeed, may overturn some of the client’s own thinking.
